Task Analysis & Storyboarding
My Philosophy
Task analysis evaluates how the user completes a task while using exisiting software or websites. While this method can limit true innovation in the design of a new product, it can be useful in understand how users get work done, with software or physical products. It also increases the understanding of the context in which the product will be used.
Storyboarding can be a quick and highly communicative way of recording the findings from task analysis. When the user's experience of completing the task is displayed visually for the team, it can be easy to both identify design requirements and spot areas for improved effieciency.
