Discovery

To create a positive user experience, the project team needs to understand its users. At the beginning of every project there are always unanswered questions about the users.

The user experience designer spearheads the effort to understand the users with the following user research methods. And folds in market and product research to understand the competitive context within which users will be making product descisions.

Definition

Documenting the design effectively is instrumental in building a well-designed and usable website or software application. Communication

Through flowcharts, modeling diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes, the design can be iterated inexpensively and effectively, resulting in reduced development time.

Design

My emphasis as a designer is on user research, diagraming, wireframing, and usability testing. However, I am also skilled in coding HTML and CSS, specializing in troubleshooting those pesky cross-browser issues

My background in fine-arts photography and graphic design is instrumental in providing full life-cycle design services—from preparing graphics, to custom photography, through to creating tutorials for new and complicated concepts.

Usability

Whether you've followed a user-centered design process or not, testing for usability is an essential step in building a user-friendly product.

Usability tests can be performed at the beginning, middle, end, or throughout a project. I prefer to test early and test often, incurring the lowest-costs possible.
